Portrait In Jazz

Portrait In Jazz has been performing throughout New England since 1993, when founder Brad Ellenberg began developing the group while pursuing a Master's Degree in Jazz Composition at New England Conservatory. The ensemble started as a trio of guitar, bass, and trumpet, and has expanded to include saxophone, drums, and vocals as needed. With hundreds of performances to their credit, the group is experienced in adapting their instrumentation and repertoire to suit any event. While jazz standards form their primary focus, Portrait In Jazz comfortably performs Motown and rock classics to accommodate upbeat, extended dance sets. Their flexibility allows them to create ambience for intimate functions or deliver high-energy performances for larger celebrations. The band also features The Brad Ellenberg Quintet, a project launched in 2008 that focuses on Ellenberg's original jazz compositions, with two released albums and an expanding catalog of over 45 original pieces.
