Riverboat Stompers

Riverboat Stompers is a New Orleans-style jazz band based in Boston that brings the festive atmosphere of the Crescent City to events throughout New England. The ensemble performs traditional jazz made famous by Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, and Sidney Bechet, featuring old-style interactive improvisation designed for audience participation. The band typically performs as a 7-piece ensemble with cornet, trombone, clarinet, piano, drums, tuba, and banjo, though they can scale down to accommodate different venue sizes and budgets. Vocals are a frequent part of their performances, delivered with humor and irony. With 16 years of experience, the Riverboat Stompers have performed at diverse venues including performing arts centers, Quincy Market, the Kennedy Library, and town Parks & Recreation concerts. They serve corporate events, weddings, retirement communities, Mardi Gras parties, memorial services, and political rallies. The band offers commentary and historical context about the music during performances when appropriate. They are willing to travel up to 100 miles from their Boston base and serve the Greater Boston area including Cambridge, Newton, Quincy, and surrounding communities.
