JCakes is an award-winning wedding bakery located in North Branford, Connecticut, owned by Hope Looney. Established in 1993, the bakery specializes in gourmet custom wedding cakes and cupcakes, combining traditional craftsmanship with current trends and techniques. Every cake is handmade through a three-step process: first, the team bakes a fresh, moist sponge cake in the couple's chosen flavor. Next, the cake is filled with hand-whipped fillings made entirely in-house—nothing comes pre-made from a tub. Finally, cake specialists frost each creation with flavored French buttercream, rich chocolate ganache, or expertly applied rolled fondant. Unique flavor options include chocolate truffle, raspberry buttercream, strawberry, lemon curd, Oreo cookies and cream, cannoli, and chocolate mousse. Hope and her team offer private tasting sessions where couples can sample flavors and discuss design details to ensure every element of their cake is perfect. The bakery creates fully customizable packages designed to each couple's specifications, including bespoke dessert table treats. JCakes provides delivery and setup services for added convenience on the wedding day.
