Justice of the Peace

Justice of the Peace is a Georgetown, Massachusetts-based wedding officiant service led by Joseph Sakelo. A notary public and member of The Massachusetts Justices of the Peace Association, Joseph works collaboratively with couples using a creative and innovative approach to craft ceremonies that reflect their unique preferences and tell their story. His background includes ordination as a Tibetan Buddhist Nun in 2003, a Master's degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Sakya Institute, and credentials as Massachusetts Resident Clergy since 2016 and Justice of the Peace since 2021. Joseph accommodates a wide range of wedding styles, from formal celebrations with 200 guests to intimate elopements on Mt. Washington or colorful seaside services in Provincetown. He prioritizes each couple's personal vision and works with religious, humanist, and interfaith couples alike. His ceremonies typically run 30 to 60 minutes depending on the couple's preference. In addition to officiating, he provides pre-marital counseling to help couples prepare for their special day and their future together. Joseph can perform weddings freely throughout Massachusetts and can arrange one-day officiant status in other states with advance notice.
