Justice of the Peace/Officiant

Justice of the Peace Mike Backer holds a commission for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, allowing him to officiate ceremonies anywhere within the state. He has professionally officiated over 1,000 ceremonies in Massachusetts and has also performed ceremonies in Colorado, Maine, New Hampshire, Florida, Connecticut, and Rhode Island as a member of the clergy. Mike Backer served as President of the Massachusetts Justices of the Peace Association, Inc. for two terms from July 2007 through June 2011, and remained on the Executive Board as an elected Director until June 2015. In June 2012, he received the Richard M. Percoco, Sr. Award from the Massachusetts Justices of the Peace Association for outstanding and distinguished service. He has received WeddingWire's Couples' Choice Award for 15 consecutive years since 2010 and The Knot Best of Weddings Award for multiple consecutive years. His approach emphasizes customized and personalized ceremonies tailored to each couple. He welcomes all faiths and specializes in Christian, Jewish, and interfaith ceremonies, as well as non-religious and non-denominational services. Same-gender weddings are welcomed. When available for wedding rehearsals, he ensures the wedding party is fully informed and prepared for the ceremony day.
