Hill-Stead Museum

Hill-Stead Museum is a National Historic Landmark set on 152 pastoral acres overlooking the Litchfield Hills in Farmington, Connecticut. The property centers on an imposing 1901 Colonial Revival home designed by pioneering female architect Theodate Pope Riddle to showcase her father's collection of Impressionist art and furnishings. The Museum's collection includes paintings by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, James M. Whistler, and Mary Cassatt, along with works on paper and Japanese woodblock prints. The grounds feature stately trees, seasonal gardens, and over three miles of stone walls and woodland trails. Hill-Stead offers multiple event spaces including a 1920 Sunken Garden suitable for cocktail parties and commitment ceremonies, a rustic wood-paneled former theater accommodating up to 100 guests, and a retro dining room for intimate gatherings of 30-40 people. The sweeping lawns can be tented to accommodate up to 400 guests. Hill-Stead has been recognized as one of Connecticut's most-out-of-the-ordinary places for wedding receptions. The venue hosts weddings, commitment ceremonies, receptions, photo sessions, corporate meetings, retreats, and family celebrations.
