The Crane Estate

The Crane Estate is a 2,100-acre historic property overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Originally purchased by Chicago industrialist Richard T. Crane, Jr. in 1910, the estate features Castle Hill, a 165-acre National Historic Landmark crowned by a 59-room Stuart-style mansion designed by renowned architect David Adler in 1928. Today known as The Great House, this country place era estate sits high above Crane Beach with views along the half-mile-long Grand Allée. The property offers three distinct wedding venues. The Great House provides exclusive use of the historic mansion with dramatic hilltop vistas. Steep Hill Beach features two private oceanfront lawns overlooking the Atlantic, ideal for seaside ceremonies and receptions. The Barn at The Crane Estate is a historic Italian-style structure with terra cotta walls, post and beam interior, wood floors, and a green tiled roof. The estate encompasses winding salt marshes, miles of barrier beach, the Crane Wildlife Refuge, and spectacular northeastern coastal scenery. The Crane Estate is a property of The Trustees of Reservations and has been recognized with The Knot Best of Weddings awards for seven consecutive years.
