The Salem Herbfarm

The Salem Herbfarm is a wedding venue located in Salem, Connecticut, featuring an 1867 barn and surrounding gardens. Owned and operated by Anne and Joe Duncan, the property has been in Anne's family since her great uncle Fred Washburn purchased the farm in 1915. After operating as a retail plant nursery from 1997 to 2015, the couple renovated the historic barn to create a wedding venue, expanding its capacity while preserving original elements including American chestnut posts and exposed beams. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor event spaces. The barn accommodates up to 140 guests for receptions and features vintage decor including old tools, license plates, dog tags, and lanterns that reflect its late 1800s origins. Outdoor ceremony options include spacious lawns, manicured gardens, and a white arch backdrop. The grounds provide areas for guest strolls and conversation. The venue rental includes tables, chairs, and on-site parking for up to 65 vehicles. The team provides a list of trusted vendors while remaining flexible to accommodate couples' preferred vendors. The Salem Herbfarm has received Best of Weddings awards from The Knot in 2022 and 2023.
